Obituary

Anthony George D'EgidioDecember 30, 1941 – October 5, 2026

Anthony George D'Egidio, 84, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on October 5, 2026. Born in Newburgh, New York, Anthony lived a remarkable life defined by service, determination, intelligence, accomplishment, and a deep devotion to his family and community.

Anthony was the beloved husband of Reyna Linares D'Egidio, whom he married on July 7, 2000. He was a loving father to Phillip Joseph D'Egidio, Diane Marie D'Egidio, and Deborah Jean D'Egidio. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Anthony D'Egidio Jr. Anthony was the son of the late Michael Anthony D'Egidio and Panagiota Mary D'Egidio.

A Life of Service

Anthony proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from 1960 to 1964, with duty in the Arctic Circle and the Domain of the Golden Dragon. His years of military service reflected the discipline, courage, and commitment that would remain hallmarks of his life.

A Distinguished Career

In 1966, Anthony began his professional career with IBM, initially working as a typewriter technician. Never content to stop learning, he attended night school while working full-time and graduated from Pace University on June 4, 1977, with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing.

Following his graduation, Anthony joined IBM's purchasing department, where he quickly established himself as a highly skilled and determined negotiator. During his nearly three decades with IBM, he negotiated some of the company's largest contracts, including a significant contract with Intel Semiconductor Manufacturing Company.

Anthony's work took him around the world, including travels to Japan, China, Barbados, France, and Germany, where he negotiated multimillion-dollar contracts on behalf of IBM. He was respected by both IBM and its vendors for his ability to negotiate firmly, intelligently, and effectively. Anthony was known for always seeking the best possible deal for IBM and for bringing extraordinary attention to detail to everything he did.

After 30 years with IBM, Anthony retired in 1996.

A New Chapter

Retirement did not mean slowing down for Anthony. He joined Ansca Homes, where he worked in Quality Control and Public Relations and also lent his knowledge and experience to the company's IT needs whenever he could.

Anthony brought the same attention to detail and strong negotiating skills to his work at Ansca Homes. He took great pride in quality and held contractors to the highest standards of workmanship.

It was during his time at Ansca Homes that Anthony met the love of his life, Reyna Linares. They married on July 7, 2000, beginning a partnership filled with love, companionship, and many cherished memories.

Anthony shared a special bond with Reyna and her family. He was lovingly given the nickname "Osito," meaning "little teddy bear," a reflection of the tenderness and affection his family had for him. Reyna's family embraced Anthony, and he became a deeply loved and precious part of their lives.

The Author

Anthony was a man of many talents and never stopped challenging himself. Among his accomplishments was becoming a published author.

On April 11, 2012, he released his first novel, The Third Cell, a gripping story about one man's chilling transformation from orphan to international terrorist.

Never one to leave a story unfinished, Anthony published his second novel, The Prodigal Son, on August 26, 2023, continuing the story begun in The Third Cell.

His books stand as another testament to Anthony's imagination, determination, and desire to create something lasting.

A Leader in His Community

Anthony also dedicated himself to improving the community he called home. True to his nature, he was not someone who could simply sit back and watch things happen. He ran for and became President of his Homeowners Association, where he once again put his negotiating skills to work on behalf of his friends and neighbors.

Under his leadership, Anthony worked to secure the best possible value for the community. Among the improvements he helped negotiate were brand-new roofs and new paver driveways, along with increased parking spaces. He took pride in making a tangible difference in the lives of those around him.

Anthony leaves behind a legacy of service, hard work, perseverance, and love. He was a Coast Guard veteran, a respected professional, a world traveler, a negotiator, an author, a community leader, a devoted husband, a loving father, a brother, and a cherished member of his extended family.

He will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the determination with which he approached life, the people he helped along the way, and the love he shared with those closest to him.

Anthony's life was full, purposeful, and uniquely his own. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

A funeral mass with full military honors will be celebrated 11am, Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 10300 Yamato Rd, Boca Raton, FL 33498.
