Albert Bret De Capito, 58, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, in Miami, FL, after a courageous and long battle with a rare form of cancer, Solitary Fibrous Tumor (SFT). He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.
Born on April 19, 1966, in Warren, Ohio, Bret was the beloved son of Patricia De Capito and Brad Giordano. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth De Capito; his mother, Patricia De Capito; his father, Brad Giordano; his brother, Roger B. De Capito; his sister, Chalet Conrad; and his nephews, Chase De Capito and Christopher Conrad. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Roger A. De Capito, who was very dear to him.
A proud graduate of Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bret went on to attend Florida Atlantic University. For over 12 years, he worked as a Business Development Manager in Landscape Sales at Nanaks/Shinto Landscaping, where he built a highly successful career. He was well-respected by colleagues and clients alike, known for his professionalism, expertise, and leadership. Bret was also a mentor to many, offering guidance and wisdom to those around him.
Bret had a deep passion for life and was known for his many talents. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Ohio State Buckeyes, and loved to golf, cook, play softball, camp, and travel. His zest for life was only rivaled by his deep love for his family. Bret was the family chef, always creating delicious meals and gathering loved ones around the table. He was warm, loving, thoughtful, and full of optimism, even in the face of adversity. His incredible strength, humor, and positivity shone through, even during his illness.
Above all, Bret was an amazing father to his daughter, Elizabeth. He was deeply involved in her life, providing love, guidance, and support. His commitment to being a devoted father was evident in every aspect of his life. He had an innate ability to connect with people, always making others feel valued and cared for. Bret never missed an opportunity to tell his family and friends how much he loved them.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Ascension Catholic Church, 7250 N Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL 33487, on December 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately after the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Horowitz Solitary Fibrous Tumor Initiative (HSFTI), which is dedicated to finding a cure for Solitary Fibrous Tumors, one of the rarest forms of cancer. Bret was diagnosed with this condition, and the initiative works to raise awareness and support research. Donations can be made at hsfti.org .
Bret will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of love, humor, and strength will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
