Delray Beach, FL – Sarah Jill Gray, a long-time resident of Delray Beach died of natural causes on July 1, 2017 in her home at 1 Harbourside Drive.

Born in 1952 on Long Island, NY, Jill was a true islander. Her family consisted of two older sisters, Janet Genevieve and Jane Gail, and parents, Alice and Garth Gray. They were strong participants in the local community and Catholic church.

Graduating from CW Post in 1989 with a Psychology Degree, Jill excelled at her career in sales.  Working for many years at Bloomingdales,  she created powerful relationships with her clients, showcasing her confidence, intelligence, and will to close a deal.

As a loving, generous aunt, she participated in her nieces and nephew’s lives.  Kiersten, Colin, and Casey had a friend, mentor, and overall ‘cool’ Aunt that drove a sports car.  She never missed an opportunity to send a card or gift for birthdays and Christmas, or enjoy a family Thanksgiving dinner.  Not to mention the countless holiday visits, including graduations, karate tournaments, and high school plays which she attended.

With her strong love for the beach, Jill moved to Delray Beach, Florida in 1991, living in her new condo with beautiful views of the inter-coastal.  Here, she spent fulfilling days with her favorite animals: her cats, which filled her apartment with activity and humor. She continued to share her love and affection with her grand nephews and grand niece long distance, visiting when ever she could.

As a member of the local community, Jill spoke at many events regarding improving others’ lives, overcoming challenges, and how to be inspired for the future you.  She was a lectern, Eucharistic Minister, and usher at Ascension Catholic Church. She had a strong faith in God, and always took the opportunity to help others especially the elderly and those in need.

As a proud Irish-American, Jill celebrated her heritage with charms, quotes, posters, and green apparel. With family originating from County Cork, Ireland, she enjoyed her touring the beautiful countryside.  She spoke highly of the past, and believed she was truly blessed and carried the luck of the Irish in her heart.

Jill was described by her friends as true force: speaking her mind, emphasizing a point, and showcasing her passion for life.  A big fan of music, she spoke of attending David Bowie and Elton John concerts that shaped the way she is today.  At her sixtieth birthday party, she hired a rock and roll band, that played loud and late – until the police showed up to close it down.   She chose to live a life of unabashed excitement, and relentless energy, inspiring all, and amazing her friends.

Jill is survived by her older sister, Jane Gail Germaine Gray, nephew, Colin McCabe, nieces, Casey Sussman and Kiersten McCabe, and brother-in-law Joe McCabe.  Additionally by grand-niece Lily McCabe, and grand-nephews, Gavin Konikowski, Liam Konikowski, Grayson Sussman, and Asher Sussman.

Family will receive friends Sunday, July 23, 2017, 5-8pm at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 24, 11am at Ascension Catholic Church.
